JORDYN ROMERO

DIRECTOR

Jordyn Romero is an award winning filmmaker from Santa Fe, NM. Her work aims to elevate the female narrative in the outdoor space.  She holds a BFA in documentary filmmaking from Chapman University and was a semifinalist for the student Academy Awards. She has traveled the world places like the Galapagos, Costa Rica, and Scotland to explore and tell diverse stories about identity, culture, and changing the norm. Her recent film, Of the Sea, has won Emerging Filmmaker, Audience Award, and Best Documentary in over 15 festivals all over the world.

LEAH DE LEON

PRODUCER

Leah de Leon is an award winning documentary filmmaker and photographer. She is driven by her innate curiosity about people and her love for travel, telling empowering stories that explore culture and identity around the world. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in documentary filmmaking from Chapman University and was a Nikon Storytellers Scholarship recipient. She is a co-founder, director and producer at Unreel Stories, an LA-based production company, where she creates original branded content and short films.

MARTINA BURTSCHER

CO-PRODUCER

Martina Burtscher is a co-founder and director of SeaSisters Sri Lanka, a social enterprise striving for a more inclusive surf community in Sri Lanka. Originally from Austria, Martina first came to Sri Lanka in 2017 to conduct research for her Master's thesis 'Women Making Waves’. Her thesis is a pioneering study about surfing for women’s empowerment in the Global South. As a follow-up, she co-initiated the Arugam Bay Girls Surf Club - Sri Lanka’s first all-female  surf club - and later, SeaSisters. Martina holds an MA in International Development and a BA in Corporate Communications.

AMANDA PRIFTI

CO-PRODUCER

Amanda Prifti is a co-founder and director of SeaSisters Sri Lanka, a social enterprise striving for a more inclusive and responsible surf community in Sri Lanka. Originally from the US, she holds a BA in International Affairs and Environmental Studies, and an MSC in International Development and Management, and specializes in addressing social and environmental challenges in developing surf communities. She is also a freelance surf photographer, sharing the stories of her fellow surfers with a particular focus on women challenging the status quo.

KALPA GANDHARI

STORY CONSULTANT AND TRANSLATOR

Kalpa is from Unawatuna Sri Lanka. She has obtained a Higher National Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality Management. Currently, she is studying Bachelor of Law at Open University of Sri lanka. She is a member of Sea Sisters, and also works with them as a translator.
